IDC announced the top ten predictions of global robots from 2017 to 2020

IDC predicts that by 2019, 35% of leading institutions in the fields of logistics, medicine, utilities and resources will try to use robots to achieve automated operations

on December 8, 2016, the IDC manufacturing insights global commercial robot research project in Singapore released the latest report entitled IDC future Scape: Global robot forecast 2017. The report analyzes the main drivers of the future development of global robotics and the impact of these drivers on the development of robotics from 2017 to 2020

Dr. Zhang Jing, research director of IDC global robotics and manufacturing insights in the Asia Pacific region, believes that the development of artificial intelligence, computer vision, navigation, MEMS sensors and semiconductor technology will continue to promote the innovation of industrial and service robots in function, performance, autonomy, ease of use and cost-effectiveness

Dr. Zhang also revealed the major strategic predictions from 2017 to 2020 and the main development trends of robotics, which will bring many new opportunities and challenges to it leaders

prediction 1: robot as a service

by 2019, 30% of commercial service robot applications will adopt the business model of robot as a service, so as to reduce the introduction and deployment costs of robots

prediction 2: Chief robotics officer

by 2019, 30% of leading institutions will set up the position of chief robotics officer and/or have professional robotics functional departments in the company's business

by 2020, the application of robots will bring us $80billion in new ICT market, attract more new market participants to provide support for the deployment of robots, and user companies will have more manufacturers to choose from

forecast 4: robot talent shortage

Dr. zhangjingbing concluded that robot technology will continue to accelerate innovation and will subvert and change the existing business operation mode of many industries. IDC expects robots to develop strongly in more fields than traditional manufacturing, including logistics, final health care, utilities and resources.
